Pastoral Care Education

Pastoral Care Education is essential to many areas of ministry: marriage, funerals, youth/children's, evangelism, seniors, and much more. It is the basis into the area of chaplaincy (ministry within the market place)

    How many hours are required?

Most chaplaincy programs require you to have at least a masters degree in ministry or a ministry related area of study with a PCE certification in background before receiving chaplaincy.  It usually is between 1600 to 3000 hours.

  • Spiritual reflection 

  • Individual supervision 

Preparation involves:

  • Journaling 

  • Reading 

  • Meditation 

  • Articulation of one's spiritual journey 

  • Practicing pastoral care 

  • Learning about end-of-life issues 

  • Deepening their own spirituality

  • understanding of Theology  

  • Enhancing their pastoral care skills 

  • Increasing their understanding of medical ethics and related issues
